… with The Dress, that is.. (yes, its taking on importance of capitals now..)!! As you can see from the photos below, it’s mostly done – i finally got to the point where it was wearable (i.e. the zip at the back was in) at around 12.30pm. Just the hem and various itty bitty bits left to do: those can wait till tomorrow cos i’ve been at this for almost 12 hours now and i am tired.

first viewing of The Dress, sort of finished. Itll look better with accessories and hairdo and stuff.

Having said all that, it looks good, and I’m pleased with it. The original called for the skirt to be gathered – which i knew would make me look like the side of a house so i cut an A line to the skirt instead. I’m lucky in that the A Line skirt pattern i have fits this purpose perfectly. 🙂 the sewing gods are indeed on my side today (*rushes off to ritually burn some thread, material, and sacrifice a sheep in thanks*).

Also today, my garlic has grown garlic scapes! These are the sort of flower thingies of the garlic plant; if you allow them to grow they can inhibit the growth of the bulb. So, the smart garlic grower cuts them off once they start to straighten… and the smart garlic grower also knows they’re something of a delicacy. Michiel ate a whole one, raw, and while you can taste the garlic, there was no garlic breath (i could smell the bombay mix he was eating more than the garlic) and no garlic bite to it. Very nice. I chopped them and used them in tonight’s dinner: Seafood pasta. totally yum. but before i did that, i indulged in a little photography… results behind the cut, as always!

Tomorrow: finishing The Dress, then getting started on one of the tops. I may do the red one next, i think.. by the way.. many many thanks to all those who’ve given me encouragement in keeping on with this.. Michiel, Mum, Sez, all my readers here… thankyou. without you all i’d have quit in disgust a long time ago. xx
