I promised christmas photos didn’t i?

There’s a lot more on Flickr (here), but here are some of the best ones. There’s a lot of them, so they’re behind a cut.

These are also the last photos taken with this camera, by the way, which is the one i borrowed from Mum. Later that day (these were primarily taken on 27th), I got my new camera as part of my christmas present – and i’ve been snapping happily away! (I’ll share those photos later).

Our Christmas dinner. Roast leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, stuffing, vegetables and a rosemary sauce. very yum.

text on embroidery reads It is not flesh and blood, but the heart that makes us mothers and daughters, paraphrased from Johann Schiller. The photograph shows Grannie, Mom and me when i was around 14 years old - its been smudged out to preserve their privacy.

In order to get the Turkey done in time, it had to go in the oven at a godawful hour, which meant the oven had to be on even earlier (and why i only got 3 hours of sleep). Jess very sleepily came into the living room and crawled up onto the sofa and watched me slurping coffee, trying to wake up, around 7.15am (this was after the disaster with the pork mince).

You can just see the look in her eyes. "look.. what are you doing awake? get back to bed where you belong!!!"

this stuff saved me on that day... LOTS of this stuff...

glasses we used for lunch. I added the ribbon and the little red triangle. If you look close, later on, youll see matching red triangles on the starters.

I spent some time that morning outside, watching the sun come up. I shot lots of photographs of the brightening sky, theres a few on flickr, but this is about my favorite one. this was around 7.45am and it was perishing cold!

we don't normally do starters for christmas lunch. But i didn't want to do crackers this year, and fancied something to introduce the meal rather than sitting down to the big plate straight away, so came up with this idea. The idea was that you'd pull the holly leaves out of the top.. and the sides would fall down.. to reveal this:

... your starter. Each person got three bite size (2cm square?) pieces of rye bread topped with a little bit of butter or cream cheese, then something else. The exact toppings differed for each person, according to likes and dislikes..

The exact toppings differed for each person, according to likes and dislikes.. The one shown above was Michiels - L to R, Ham and cucumber, 3 years matured "Old Amsterdam" cheese with a couple of snips of chive, and cream cheese, smoked salmon and cucumber. Dad doesn't like salmon so got 2 ham pieces, Gran doesn't like strong cheese so got mild cheese, and I gave Mum and me some pesto cheese, to give her something a bit different. The Ham, by the way, was cooked by me, the day before.

three different starters

three different starters... they went down very well and were a total surprise to everyone (except Michiel of course)...!!
