Japanese Knotweed stems. I had photographed and noted these last year, which came up in various places for the first time, but didnt know what these were until earlier this year, when they came up again.. but more of them, when i thought they might be Japanese Knotweed. I wikid them, and im right. A menace, but a beautiful one. According to wikipedia, the young stems are edible, tasting rather like a mild rhubarb.
